ID Questions

As part of the preservation of these recordings, we try our best to make sure they are identified as best as we can. Sometimes the name of the corps is unknown but the most often puzzling question has to do with the venue of the contest or exhibition.

ID this year

Audubon Bon Bons in the contra era

If, and I say if, my years are identified correctly, I have identified recordings from 1965, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1976. According to a Bon Bon who marched from 1974-77, it is not one of those years she marched.

That leaves 1966 or 1968.

Also, the recordings I have from 1967 through 1975 except for 1973 are not very good or at least not as good as I would like (or any Bon Bon would like) so I'm ready to trade if you have great recordings of those years.

What corps is this?

This was originally identified as 1968 Archer-Epler Musketeers but such a corps did not exist as two corps merged and were called Reilly Raiders Musketeers - the proper music has been id'd. So what corps is this? It sounds like a senior corps.

Mystery corps.

Waterloo Drum Corps

We have several recordings of the Chevaliers and the Royals who were from Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA. These are clearly identified because there is an announcer on each of the recordings.

I have heard that the story is a little more complex than this. I have heard or hallucinated that there was a Royal Chevaliers also. Can someone help with a story about this area of the country.

So what are the numbers and letters inside the () at the end of the file name? (nc) means that the file hasn't been reviewed for the quality of the recording.
  • 5 stars - perfect recording
  • 4 stars - minor errors but a very listenable file
  • 3 stars - one that you don't mind listening to but you would prefer if it were better quality
  • 2 stars - aggravating in its quality
  • 1 star - very, very poor. Gives you a headache to listen to.
  • These ratings help you and us know whether the file needs to be replaced with an upgrade. If we already have a perfect file - a 5 star - we do not need an upgrade
