Here's an opportunity to help each other at no cost
to anybody. It is also an opportunity to contribute to the entire drum corps community. A project is under way sponsored by Drum Corps News, DCA, and DCI with the assistance of private collectors ...... like this group. Read this link. Your contribution will be part of this immense project.
We will trade any 2 of your recordings for 5 or 6
(a full CD) of ours. YOUR recordings must be those not in
the collection or it must be an upgrade in quality from what we
have. We are in need of stereo recordings of even the most recent
recordings. The quality rating system we use should give you a clue
as to what we need. If yours is not better than what we have or
we already have it such as when the venue is unknown, you will get
credit anyway. The reward is for the effort and any effort is well
appreciated by us and all future drum and bugle corps members. Perhaps
more so by those of us who are aging. Here are lists of the recordings
we can send you: junior corps, senior corps, military
corps, and international
corps. Some of these recordings, especially from 1950 or
earlier, are shorter than the typical recording and some are longer
like the Fleetwood Reflections series and many of the military shows.
This will have to be taken into account.
If you should find a recording for sale elsewhere
on the internet, like eBay or any retail site, we can split the
expense or work out a deal satisfactory to both of us. In any case,
we'll work something out. Please, if you are providing a recording
from another retail site on the internet or any other place for
that matter, be clear where you got it. Copyrights are honored as
well as possible. We can collect copyrighted material but cannot
distribute copyrighted recordings.
We also need identification of the recording venues
for many recordings. This can be handled in a variety of ways. If
you think you can identify an "unknown" venue, write a note to OldSopPlaya.
The ever aging OldSop will post the recording on a private page
for your review. If you can identify the venue, you get the recording
free and if you cannot identify the venue, you get the recording
free. Cool, eh? If you have purchased the recording already, we'll
work out some form of credit on future purchases. A properly identified
venue is very important to our history as drum corps nuts.
Hey, folks, we're in this together. Let's not let
older recordings disappear and let's show the talented youngsters
of today where this art form came from.
