Caveat and apologies
- My observation: 90% of the questions put to me about why their download didn't work would have been avoided if the directions had been followed. If something goes wrong with the download, tell me at which point in the instructions something went wrong.
- The most common problem: During a switchover from one server to another that occurred recently, some files became unlinked and instead of finding a link that starts a download when you click on it, you get nothing. Despite information that might indicate you can download it at a later time, what really happens is that you never can download it. Just contact me and I'll get you the mp3 file you wished with minimal fuss.
- My admission: Some of the errors are not yours, obviously. In the process of
re-mastering about 7,000 drum corps shows and loading 4,100 of them onto
the server, mistakes have occurred.
- What's up with this software?: If
the download message says that it is downloading a file called "download.php"
or anything else, let it go until the end. This may be be the file you wish and not a file
called "download.php." The download may take several minutes depending on your connection. If your browser asks for a file name, type in the name of the mp3 file you are trying to download.
- Also, in orders of roughly 10 or more, you may be charged for shipping. Save your outrage as that will be refunded as soon as I find it or am notified. I have spent hours trying to figure out what is wrong. I am convinced that it is a software bug as this software was designed primarily for normal store type sales and not downloads. I may switch software but the expense will be high and the effort astronomical.
- Differences of opinion: If the quality is
not as you expected, please write. However, with the ability to hear the first 50 seconds of each recording, there should be no surprises. Sometimes I can go back over the recording
and improve it and I will send it to you. I want this
information so that I may improve the quality of the collection. No one benefits if the quality is misrepresented and what sounded fine to my ears 8 years ago may not sound so good to my ear now.
- And finally: Some
of these recording's might be called "perfect" and I certainly strive
to provide such quality but I do not guarantee every file rated as a
"5" will be perfect. The primary customer I am aiming to satisfy is the
one who wishes to reminisce - to relive the good old days. I can
satisfy such a person. If you want more than that, if you require the
perfectly reproduced file that matches the master tape, you are getting
your drum corps music from the wrong person. I do not have master
tapes.
Thanks for your patience.

So what are the numbers and letters inside the () at the end
of the file name? (nc) means that the file hasn't been reviewed
for the quality of the recording.
5 stars - excellent recording
4 stars - minor errors but a very listenable
file
3 stars - one that you don't mind listening
to but you would prefer if it were better quality
2 stars - aggravating in its quality
1 star - very, very poor. Gives you a
headache to listen to.
These ratings help you and us know whether the
file needs to be replaced with an upgrade. If we already have
a perfect file - a 5 star - we do not need an upgrade
